What's an ezine, you may ask, and why have I received it? I say 'basically' because it's closer in purpose to a news-sheet than a magazine, bringing you the latest news and useful information. Our ezine specialises in doing this in the world of family history in general and of the Federation of Family History Societies in particular. We live in the 21st century and technology now enables us to live our lives more efficiently and cost-effectively. Until the end of last year, every time we issued an edition of our Newsflash, we had to physically print off the original, produce hundreds of copies, envelope them individually, and post them all out by mail. Now we can deliver the original of this, its successor, direct to your computer at a press of a button, saving time and money. This method will also enable us to be even more up to date in its contents, and to make the photos included in it as colourful as the news items themselves. Geoff Riggs, FFHS Chairman |
'Who Do You Think You Are? LIVE’ is also offering groups of 20 and over the chance to buy two Adult tickets for just £15!! That’s a saving of £25! To claim your discount simply Simply call 08701 660443 This special society offer ends on 28th February. Calls charged at national call rate.

Archive Awareness Campaign has been given an exciting opportunity to help bring family history into museums and galleries this summer. For the first time, Archive Awareness has formed a partnership with the organisers of the popular Museums and Galleries month (MGM), which takes place annually in May. Together they are inviting museums and galleries to stage family workshops to link with the MGM 2007 theme – ‘People – who are we?’ The Domesday Book is one of our earliest surviving public records. You can now search & download images of Domesday online. BBC Radio 4 is producing a new genealogy show. The BBC are looking for potential stories to feature (along the lines of interesting tales that have been unearthed by those researching their genealogy) they are also looking to produce packages which offer practical advice for someone who's interested in becoming more involved in the practice of genealogy. So, if you or any members of your group are able to help in one or both of these areas, please contact: Our pay-per-view website of databases for England & Wales Over the last four years FamilyHistoryOnline has helped nearly 200,000 researchers safely and securely search hundreds of indexes and transcriptions from family history societies and others. Some of these include images of churches, gravestones or documents. As a registered user of the FHO web site, you can search the 66 million records for free to obtain basic information, while more detailed information is priced at a few pence for each record. To help you understand what you're paying for each database is fully described on a web page that shows the information on each record, | ||||||||||||||
