General Register Office Digitisation and Indexing Project
I have today received the following notice from the the GRO. The meeting on 8 February provides a good opportunity to have input at what seems to be an early stage of the new project. There is much more chance of our views being accepted if we can make them known while the project specification is still being prepared. It may be that you would wish to comment on aspects other than those detailed below. If that is the case, I suggest you take written comments that can be handed in for consideration outside the meeting.
I would encourage as many societies as possible to send a representative or feed in their thoughts via email to GROEvents@ips.gsi.gov.uk.

"You will be aware of recent announcements surrounding the Digitisation and Indexing Project (D & I) that GRO are taking forward.
It is intended that the D & I Project will include enhancements to the existing certificate ordering and production systems to enhance the overall customer experience.
The followings aspects will be discussed;
- The Log in stage of the certificate ordering system
- Site navigation
- Order history
- Payment methods
- Service announcements
- FAQs
- Follow up - to any queries/complaints made about an order
- Complete customer experience
We are keen to consult and gather your views, as members of the Family History community, on this aspect of the project. Whilst it cannot be guaranteed that all suggestions/improvements that you provide will be included in the final specification for any changes made to the system, we will keep you informed as the project progresses.
The D & I Forum will take place on the afternoon of Monday 8 February 2010 at the General Register Office (England & Wales), Southport, Merseyside.
We have planned for an attendance of approximately 20 representatives, but should there be further demand, GRO will endeavour to accommodate extra numbers.
If your Family History Society would like to send a representative to this forum, please can you respond either by email to GROEvents@ips.gsi.gov.uk or telephone 0151 471 4530/4508 by Friday 22 January 2010.
We hope you are able to attend and look forward to meeting you."
