Essex Record Office has just launched a new version of its online catalogue. This covers a wide range of documents relating to the county, which extends from what is now part of the built-up area of London to picturesque rural areas, such as Castle Hedingham (illustrated).
Renamed as "Essex Archives Online", the site has a cleaner look than its predecessor and is designed to make it easier for you to find the records you are seeking. The changes will not affect any subscriptions or information that users have saved on the old "Seax" system.
You can still access the service through the old web address, but can now also reach it direct via www.essexarchivesonline.co.uk
The site includes user guides should you need any help in navigating it. As always, you can contact the Record Office on firstname.lastname@example.org if you need assistance.
